From 10:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, you can go to the library and buy a new or gently used book you didn't know you needed or a home-baked treat you didn't know you wanted, and by doing so, you will support the library.
Now here's a bit of little known trivia: The vintage sign being used as the image for this event (shown above) was painted more than a dozen years ago by yours truly, the creator of The Gossips of Rivertown.

ReplyDeleteWe've been using images of that lovely sign & a couple of others for the pr for these sales. Thanks! Someone just told me last week that you were the creator. Did you do the other signs as well? There's a sandwich board one and one or two others. They're all pretty cool (as they say).
ReplyDeleteThose signs were a group effort, back in the day. I put out an appeal for scrap wood and leftover paint on a list serve that existed back then. Peter Meyer and I went around in his pickup truck collecting the donations. Then one Saturday morning, a group of us gathered in front of 400 State Street (then the library) to paint signs. I painted some, Sam Pratt painted some, and there were others. I seem to recall Linda Mussmann and Claudia Bruce were there. The very nicest of the signs were painted by Arlene Boehm. I suspect a bunch got tossed out over the years, but it seems a few have survived.
