Columbia County on Jeopardy!

Gossips learned from a reader that, last night, the Final Jeopardy answer was: "Although born in the United States, he was the only president who spoke English as a second language."

The correct question, of course, was: "Who was Martin Van Buren?" Apparently, at the end of the 18th century (Van Buren was born in 1782), they were still speaking Dutch in Kinderhook.

  1. Is it too easy a clue, "First POTUS born in the US"?

  2. Martin Van Buren was the first president to be born a US citizen. The previous 7 were all born British subjects, though on North American soil.

  3. Seinfeld: The Van Buren Boys? There's a street gang named after President Martin Van Buren?

Kramer: Oh yeah, and they're just as mean as he was!
