It Was Ever Thus

We tend to think of the pressure to do one's Christmas shopping early as a fairly recent phenomenon, but it seems it's been going on for quite a while. This reminder, featuring Santa Claus looking sternly admonishing, appeared in the Hudson Evening Register on November 25, 1913--two days before Thanksgiving a hundred years ago.
