Ribbon Cutting at Promenade Hill Playground

The grand opening of the newly refurbished playground at the entrance to Promenade Hill will take place on Friday at 4 p.m. The renovations to the playground were the joint effort of the Columbia County Healthcare Consortium, the Hudson Rotary Club, and the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, working together with the City of Hudson Department of Public Works.

Kari Rieser, coordinator for Kids in Motion, a program of the Healthcare Consortium, says of the project, "I truly believe that we need to give kids every opportunity to play and run and jump and spin until they are just too tired to move. We have one of the most beautiful views of the river and the Catskills and a gorgeous park that is under utilized. We are very excited to be part of the new waterfront revitalization."

The new play structures, which comply with all safety regulations, replace the Urban Renewal era equipment that dated from the early 1970s.
