Recently, while going through some files, I came upon this photograph, which is too wonderful not to share, for no particular reason.
The building at the center, of course, is the firehouse of C. H. Evans Hook & Ladder Company No. 3, now the Spotty Dog. In front of the firehouse, the men of the company pose on the ladder truck. I don't know the year it was taken (I would guess the early 1940s) or the occasion, but it's clearly summertime and the celebration is patriotic--perhaps the Fourth of July?

ReplyDeleteIt appears that there was a streetcar at some point. I see rails embedded in the street.
ReplyDeleteSausbiers Awning Shop is still here - they were doing awnings when this pic was taken.
ReplyDeleteThe train that ran down the center of Warren Street was called the Albany and Hudson Fast Line. Here's a link to a photo of one of the trains.
