There may still be snow on the ground, but tomorrow is the vernal equinox, the first day of spring. If gardens are among things that bring you joy in spring, something of great interest is happening on the second day of spring, Tuesday, March 21. Hudson's own Secret Gardener, Ben Eaton will be speaking on the topic "Historic Gardening in Columbia County" at the James Vanderpoel House "Below Stairs," 16 Broad Street, in Kinderhook. The event, which is presented by the Columbia County Historical Society Volunteers, begins at 7 p.m. Eaton's lecture will be preceded by a preview of the ten-minute film 60 Tortillas, by local filmmaker and organic gardener Gretchen Wall. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the CCHS website.
