Julia Philip, one of the great women of Columbia County, who in 1992 was part of the group that purchased the Hudson Opera House and initiated its restoration and amazing development as an arts center, was a longtime trustee of the Columbia County Historical Society, served on the boards of the New York State Historic Sites Clermont and Wilderstein, owned and operated Philip Apple Orchard, and lived in the the wonderful historic house Talavera in Claverack, died on February 20.
