As you may have already realized, today's date--02022020--is a palindrome, a phenomenon that hasn't occurred for 909 years and won't occur again for another 101 years, not until December 12, 2121--12122121.
Today is also Groundhog Day. Earlier this morning, after an uncommonly warm January, four groundhogs in the northeast, of varying degrees of reputation and fame--Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania, Staten Island Chuck in New York City, Milltown Mel and Haddon Harry, both in New Jersey--emerged from their respective burrows and did not see their shadows, hence predicting an early spring. The only prognosticating rodent offering a different forecast is Malverne Mel on Long Island, who saw his shadow and is calling for six more weeks of winter.
