There is vacancy on the Hudson City Democratic Committee (HCDC). The HCDC is made up of two representatives from each of the five wards in the city, and checking the HCDC website reveals that the vacancy is in the First Ward. According to the information provided by the HCDC, you don't have to be a resident of the First Ward to fill the vacancy. The person currently representing the First Ward isn't. In fact, you don't even have to be a resident of Hudson. Remarkably, anyone residing in the 106th Assembly District, the district represented by Assemblymember Didi Barrett, can serve on the HCDC.
This is the stated mission of the HCDC:
With the goal of Progress for All, the Hudson City Democratic Committee builds grassroots support for policy initiatives and candidates. It is the official local body of the Democratic Party and works to ensure fair and transparent local elections.
These are the people that currently make up the HCDC:
First Ward John Kane
Second Ward Abdus Miah, Dewan Sarowar
Third Ward Shershah Mizan, Virginia Martin (Secretary)
Fourth Ward Bill Hughes, Steve Dunn (Treasurer)
Fifth Ward Verity Smith, Kate Treacy (Chair)
Anyone interested in serving on the HCDC should send an email telling about yourself to info@hudsoncitydemocrats.org. The HCDC meets monthly. Its next meeting, which takes place on Zoom, is scheduled for Monday, October 19.
The reason for the vacancy in Ward One is because I resigned from the executive committee and from the HCDC recently because the committee has been paralyzed for months. Annick de Bellefeuille
