The Times Union and Channel 6 News are reporting that the mayors of Albany, Schenectady, Syracuse, Ithaca, and Fayetteville are all in precautionary quarantine today after Mayor David Rich of Binghamton tested positive for COVID-19 just hours after he attended a news conference of New York mayors yesterday. The news conference, which took place in Syracuse, was meant to highlight the importance of federal COVID-19 fiscal relief for states and municipalities.
It appears Mayor Kamal Johnson may not have attended the event. At 2:30 p.m. yesterday, he was in his office at City Hall, participating in a Zoom meeting of the Board of Estimate and Apportionment.
