Ask, and It Shall Be Given

Yesterday, Gossips made an appeal for historic images of 702-704 Columbia Street to help guide the restoration of the building's storefronts. Within an hour after publishing the post, Jim Hoon of the History Room Committee at the Hudson Area Library sent me these two photographs from the History Room's collection.

The second picture, with the building in the background, shows what was collected in a scrap drive during World War II.

The History Room at the library has a large and ever growing collection of historic images of Hudson. It is an amazing resource to be explored and supported. The History Room website can be found here.

  1. A pity we no longer have the street cars. The fountain in the first image looks different too. I don't see Venus.

    1. Venus is hidden by the foliage of the tree. It is the same fountain that was installed in 1883.
