In a comment on one of Gossips' recent posts about the raid on Hudson by the New York State Police in 1922, a reader cynically suggested that since scandals involving the police were a regular occurrence in Hudson, happening in 1922, 1950, and 1991, we were due for another. What he had in mind as a cause for state intervention was the "failure to enforce the speed limit in town and mostly ignoring reckless, dangerous and distracted drivers."
As if right on cue, the Register-Star ran this headline today, under a red banner that screamed "EXCLUSIVE REPORT": "Police records spark AG probe."
You have to look twice and carefully to realize that the subject of scrutiny is not the police department in Hudson but the police department in Coeymans, a municipality not in Columbia County or even Greene County but in Albany County.
