An Offering for April Fool's Day

Before this auspicious day slips away, I thought I would share this item found in the Hudson Daily Star for April 1, 1872.

Searching the internet to confirm that "street dirt" was what I thought it was, I learned more than I cared to know about "night soil," a similar but different commodity. 

It's nice to know that 150 years ago there was a market for what was swept up from Hudson's streets.
