The Columbia County Department of Health announced today that it would no longer be reporting the daily number of new cases of COVID-19. Instead, at the beginning of each week, the number of county residents hospitalized with COVID-19 and the number of deaths from the virus in the previous week would be reported.
Today, the CCDOH reported a death from COVID-19, the first since December 20. The number of county residents hospitalized with COVID-19 is 3 more than on Friday, December 30, but the number in the ICU remains the same.
A year ago today, the CCDOH reported 126 new cases of COVID-19. The total number of cases was 7,732, and the number of active cases was 477. There were 200 county residents in mandatory quarantine, 26 were hospitalized, and 3 were in the ICU. The total number of deaths in Columbia County attributed to COVID-19 at this time last year was 115.
