The rain keeps coming, but the water from your faucet may be flowing less vigorously. Gossips has learned that there is a water main break which is affecting water pressure in areas throughout the city. The Department of Public Works is on the case, working to correct the situation.
Gossips received the following statement from Rob Perry, Superintendent of Public Works:
Around 6:15 this evening, the chief of the water plant was notified by Columbia County 911 that excessive water was visible in Hudson, NY.
Complaints of decreased water pressure are citywide, therefore we believe this break is on one of the two major 12-inch distribution mains.
Once the location is identified and repairs begin, it is likely that some residents will be out of water for a period of time. Typically, this is not for more than a few hours.
Once water is restored, it is possible that residents may experience discolored water. If that is the case, please run only cold water through your tub or any other spigot without a screen until the water runs clear.
This break will affect only residents of the City of Hudson. If you live in the 12534 zip code but are residents of Greenport, Stockport, Stottville, or Claverck, please disregard. Your public water is from separate water districts not controlled by the City of Hudson.
Thank you for your cooperation.
