Not to Be Missed
John Mason has an interesting study in today's Register-Star about class size in elementary and secondary schools: "Class sizes on the mind." The article points out that of the six school districts in Columbia County, only the Hudson City School District is planning to increase class size to 35 in 2011-2012, a 50 to 100 percent increase over the current year. HCSD has other distinctions among schools in the county: the lowest graduation rate--59 percent--and the highest proposed increase in the tax levy for 2011-2012--9.8 percent.
