The Fate of the Furgary

Jamie Larson has an update on the Furgary Boat Club, a.k.a. the North Dock Tin Boat Association: "Will city deep six the Furgary club?" It seems Mayor Scalera, DPW Superintendent Rob Perry, code enforcement officers, and a representative from the Department of Environmental Conservation paid a visit to the club last week to survey the shacks and find out how many are hooked up, illegally, to electricity. The article reports that "While the power has not been cut to the Furgary yet, Scalera said it could happen soon."

  1. Why? Because being a friend of the Furgary means accepting the messiness of life lived on the edge? But those corporate plutocrats abusing the South Bay; plowing semis through our poorest communities, damaging our roads, sewers, and tidal wetlands. No need to apply Mayoral, DEC or DPW pressure there. This represents perfectly the cognitive dissonance our local government has in understanding OUR waterfront.
