Also at the Courthouse This Morning . . .

Judge Christian Hummel determined that the Republicans had failed to serve notice on the affected parties in a timely manner and therefore the merits of the petitions could not be questioned. The write-in primary to put Nick Haddad on the ballot as the Democratic mayoral candidate can go forward. Sam Pratt has the breaking news: "Haddad Team Prevails."

  1. Looks like a near miss for the Hudson Dems.

Keep your paperwork tidy or Bill Better will be back. He doesn't play beanbag.

  2. Don't get me wrong -- I have little time for the Columbia County Republicans -- and I'm a registered Republican. Faso, Fingar & Co lost me with their crummy efforts to throw out votes in Tagkhanic a little while ago.

But I've known them all for more than 20 years and little that they do surprises me. I put nothing past them. They are cut from the same cloth as the Albany Democratic machine -- read William Kennedy if you want to know about that.
