The two new trees that were planted in Thurston Park last fall, to replace two that had died in the park's distinguishing allée of Bradford pears, are now in blossom.
Planting the trees was the initiative of First Ward supervisor Sarah Sterling. The trees were planted by Ben Eaton of the Secret Gardener, who is caring for them during their first critical year. The project was funded with money left over in the coffers of the now defunct Hudson Beautification Committee. The trees will be dedicated to the memory of Fran and Vinnie DeGrazia, who were active members of the Beautification Committee.
Thank you to Sarah Sterling and Ben Eaton ,our thoughtful Secret Gardner
