The Planning Commission tonight gave unanimous approval to the site plan for an outdoor food court and beer & wine garden at 347 Warren Street--a decision that was greeted with applause from the audience assembled at City Hall. After some public comment in which mention was made of visitors and weekenders from New York City, Michael Davis, the owner of the site and the applicant, stressed that he was "seeking to create a community center and not [primarily] to appeal to visitors and second home owners."
Since the project is located in a locally designated and National Register listed historic district, the next stop for the project is the City of Hudson Historic Preservation Commission. The project will also need a permit from the New York State Liquor Authority. Still, it's pretty certain that Hudson can look forward to dining outdoors on balmy summer evenings, with a choice of Mexican, Indian, and Thai cuisines, or what we've co-opted as American cuisine: pizza!
