Framing the Viewshed: The Video
On February 25, The Olana
Partnership sponsored a panel discussion entitled Framing
the Viewshed: A Bend in the River. Moderated by Dorothy Heyl, the
discussion involved three major players in a pivotal environmental battle in the
Hudson Valley--J. Winthrop Aldrich, Carl H. Petrich, and Richard Benas--and
recounted the successful opposition to siting a nuclear power plant on the
Hudson more than three decades ago, on the unprecedented grounds that the plant
would do visual harm to the viewshed. That panel discussion was videotaped, and
the first of four parts can now be seen on YouTube.
