The dog that was the subject of comment on Gossips earlier this week was sighted this morning by Don Moore, Common Council president, on Partition Street between Front and Second streets. Moore called the Hudson dog warden, Wes Powell, but there is no news on whether or not Powell has been able to locate the dog.
The dog has been described as a small shepherd, black and tan with some white markings, wearing a red collar. At one point, the dog was reported to be limping, but that seems no longer to be the case. It has been seen running alongside Route 9G near Mount Merino Road, at the waterfront between the big Amtrak parking lot and Basilica Hudson, in backyards on Willard Place, and now on Partition Street. The dog was first spotted on April 4, so the poor thing has been on its own for a very long time. It's reported to be very shy and skittish of people and other dogs. If you see the dog, call the dog warden: (518) 339-4008.
