Back in 2008, CBSNews did an investigative report about Eric Galloway's Lantern Group and two of the buildings it owns and manages in New York City. Recently, a Gossips reader informed me that the video had been removed from the CBS New York website, but today Sam Pratt located the transcript of the report online and published at on his blog: "CBS shines a light on Lantern."
Reading the transcript from the CBSNews report makes me wonder if HPD commissioner Shaun Donovan was on The Lantern Group payroll? Why was he so afraid to go to St Louis Hall and see what the place looked like?
ReplyDeleteThat would not be too far off. In fact Lantern's Jessica Katz who took the lead on the failed Starboard project at 5th & Warren was a former HPD Official.

How these developers reap their profits has much
to do with the close relationship between the supportive housing industry
and the government agencies that fund them.
Before joining Lantern as executive director,
Jessica Katz worked at New York City's Department of Housing
Preservation and Development. At HPD, according to Lantern's website,
Katz was "responsible for an annual Supportive Housing pipeline worth over $100 million."
More than $15 million of that went to Lantern as an interest-free loan.
The case management program at Schaffer Hall is run by Bailey House. Wouldn't some good investigative reporter like to call up Gina Quattrochi, the executive director of Bailey House, and have a chat with her?
