Celestial Occurrences

As the biggest, closest, and brightest supermoon of the year--indeed, the closest supermoon since 1948--sets, Gossips shares an item about another heavenly phenomenon, which appeared in the Hudson Daily Evening Register for November 11, 1889.

The writer speculates, in 1889, that human endeavor may have an impact on natural events--in this case, causing the aurora borealis to become a rarely seen phenomenon.
