Building One's Language Repertoire

A few years ago, in a post on Gossips, I used the expression "set the cat among the pigeons," an idiom meaning "to cause trouble." A reader afterward told me he had never heard the expression before and planned to add it to his word-hoard.

This morning, listening to NPR, I learned a delicious Russian idiom which I plan to add to my language repertoire. I can't quote the actual Russian, but its meaning is "to lie," and literally translated into English the idiom is "to hang noodles on someone's ears." I wonder if I could work that into the tagline for Gossips: "News, History & Commentary About Hudson and No Noodles on Your Ears."
