One of the two people rumored to be running for Common Council president has officially announced his candidacy. The Register-Star reports this morning that Tom DePietro is running for the office: "Chief city planner DePietro to seek common council presidency." The headline is somewhat misleading. DePietro chairs the Planning Board.
That leaves Steve Dunn to make a formal announcement. Petition signing to get on the ballot began yesterday, and petitions for Dunn are being circulated. Both Dunn and DePietro are Democrats, which promises that there will be primary for the Democratic line on the ballot.
