Good News for Carnivores

For those wanting to buy meat from animals raised in a safe and healthy environment, to support the farmers and butchers who make it possible, and to do that at any time of the day or night, the opportunity draws closer.

Gossips has previously reported about The Applestone Meat Company and its plan to open a facility on Green Street in Hudson. On Wednesday, the sign for the business was installed. Can the vending machines and the organic and grass-fed beef, pork, lamb, sausage, and poultry be far behind?

  1. Does this type of food "store" make downtown Hudson any less of a food desert?

  2. Just when we are looking at dire climate change (90° in Anchorage), yep, that's what Hudson needs, more meat. Being that there's no vegetarian, God knows, vegan specialty venue in the whole town, it's sad. No matter how the animals are 'raised' it's all the same for them when 'they're ready' as I've heard 'it' described by a local farmer. The flip side needs to be heard whether it's comfortable or not. Especially in a town that promotes itself as progressive.

  3. SO how exciting that Stewart's has introduced VEGAN ice cream. I'm certain there will be HOORAYS for that.

    Right?

    1. Thank you for the news. A start! I guess it depends on quality. If you're hankering for some good stuff, a new ice cream shop, Fortunes, opened in Tivoli. Currently, they have 1 vegan flavor (last week) but are gearing for 3 shortly. Trust me, it's worth a trip from Hudson.

    2. Goodness, you're not suggesting hypocrisy are you?! Hasn't modern science cured us of that?

  4. I think the answer is no. We have a sushi desert downtown.

  5. Cheviot Views - well I know the mantra is "Shop local" so I'll try Stewart's vegan ice cream and support those local jobs!
