Meetings and Events in the Week Ahead

The heatwave is over, and it's a good thing. There's lots to do in the week ahead.
  • On Monday, July 22, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Assemblymember Didi Barrett and Congressman Antonio Delgado host the grand opening of their new Hudson district office at 420 Warren Street.
At 5:30 p.m. on Monday, July 22, the Common Council Fire Committee meets at City Hall, and at 6:00 p.m. the Police Committee meets in the same place. Update: The Common Council Fire Committee meeting scheduled for today at 5:30 p.m. has been rescheduled for next Monday, July 30, at 5:30 p.m.
  • On Tuesday, July 23, the board of the Hudson Development Corporation (HDC) meets at noon at 1 North Front Street. It's expected that once again the acquisition of the CSX property will be a topic of discussion, and it's always possible that plans for moving forward with the redevelopment of the Kaz site may be discussed.  
At 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, the DRI Committee meets at 2:30 p.m. at City Hall. When this committee last met, on July 9, it was decided that on July 23 the committee would be interviewing firms selected from the eight that submitted responses to the RFQ for the renovation and restoration of Promenade Hill.
At 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, the Tourism Board meets at 1 North Front Street. It is expected the board will continue its discussion of how to proceed given the Common Council's desire to control all revenue from the lodging tax, a part of which had originally been allocated to the Tourism Board, which was empowered by the law that established the lodging tax "to take all reasonable steps it determines desirable, necessary and proper to market the City of Hudson as a destination for overnight and daytrip visitors."
  • On Wednesday, July 24, the Common Council Legal Committee meets at 6:15 p.m. at City Hall. On agenda will undoubtedly be the draft legislation to address sidewalks and short-term rentals. The proposed laws can reviewed at the City of Hudson website and written comments are invited.
  • On Friday, July 26, members of the Historic Preservation Commission will make a site visit to Willard Place at 9:30 a.m., and at 10:00 a.m., there will be a public hearing at City Hall on the proposal to erect a fence in front of 10 Willard Place. Following the public hearing, the HPC will conduct its regular meeting.
