I Love the Sound of Chainsaws in the Morning

Even before the crew on the escarpment below Promenade Hill got busy denuding the rock wall of all foliage, DPW workers were busy taking their chainsaws to two little ornamental trees at the entrance to the park.

It appears from the state of things when they had cleaned up the site and were ready to go that what they were doing was not tree removal but extreme pruning.

  1. Not unlike their "prison mentality approach" towards the spyria and anything green. Scorched earth policy also just happened along the fencing of the cemetery

    1. VM, it looks like your little tree that the City hacked to a stump on your alley.

Giving the benefit of the doubt, though, maybe it's all part of a comprehensive, City-wide pollarding plan? That would explain a lot (heh).

  2. One stage in a master plan to replace Hudson's trees with native species? Keep dreaming!

  3. Perhaps the trees were dead, since there aren't any leaves on the branches.

    1. Will the CAC recommend a replacement? If so, what genus or species? Thanks.
