An Anniversary Observed

Metropolitan Diary in the New York Times, of which Micropolitan Diary is both homage and shameless imitation, features exclusively entries submitted by readers. Today our imitation is complete. This entry was submitted by a reader.
Dear Diary,
This morning, I noticed a man sitting near his car parked at Rick's Point, with a boom box playing the most beautiful classical music. I didn't realize what it was until I got home and read that today, 7.17.17, is the 300th anniversary of when Handel's Water Music was first played on the Thames River. So wonderful that someone in Hudson was thoughtful enough to honor the anniversary by our river.

The 300th anniversary of the first performance of Handel's Water Music was the subject of a story on NPR's All Things Considered this afternoon: "300 Years of Handel's 'Water Music,' with a Splash of Politics."
