The End of the Day at the Escarpment

It seems that the explanation offered this morning that the area being sprayed with shotcrete was "very fragile" and required "immediate attention" may not have been exactly true. According to another account, more credible in Gossips' opinion, Amtrak had been told what was happening was "test spraying," but when this picture, published on Gossips this morning, was sent to Amtrak by Scenic Hudson, Amtrak ordered the contractor to stop.

So work has stopped, and everyone is looking for a better solution to the perceived problem, but meanwhile we are left with this.

Unfortunately, the photographs do not capture the full impact of the ugliness. One can only imagine in horror the entire escarpment covered with this schmutz.

  1. I've been reading your blog posts on this project and just want to thank you for bringing this to the public's attention. I'm also thankful that the mayor of Hudson responded so quickly. It takes a village for a lot of things but sometimes it's one or two people that make such a huge difference. How ridiculous that, as of now, it looks like this never needed to be done!
