The Fate of the Sister Ship

Gossips has been following the progress of the SS Columbia and the efforts to restore the historic Great Lakes steamship and bring it to the Hudson River. At present, it's still in Buffalo.

The SS Columbia has a sister ship, the SS Ste. Claire. Unfortunately, today, the SS Ste. Claire suffered a devastating fire where it was docked along the Detroit River.

According to official reports, a welder working on renovations to the boat may have sparked the fire. A full report on the disaster can be found in the Detroit News: "Welding possible cause of Boblo boat fire."
