Happy Birthday, Betty White

On the last day of 2021, Betty White, comedienne, actress, and well-known lover of animals, especially dogs, died at the age of 99, just weeks before her 100th birthday.

Soon after her death, a plan for honoring Betty White's 100th birthday, which takes place on January 17, began circulating the internet. The suggestion, which has become known as the "Betty White Challenge," was that on her 100th birthday people donate $5 in her name to their favorite animal rescue or shelter.    

On Thursday, the Columbia-Greene Humane Society announced that a generous donor will match contributions made to CGHS in memory of Betty White, up to $5,000. Donations to CGHS in the Betty White Challenge can be made by clicking here on January 17.
