The city charter (Section C12-2) dictates the following regarding the organizational meeting which takes place tonight: "The Common Council shall meet at the Common Council chambers annually on the second Monday preceding the third Tuesday of January at 7:00 p.m., prevailing time." As a consequence, unlike other Council meetings nowadays, the meeting tonight will begin at 7:00 p.m., followed immediately by the informal meeting of the Council for January.
