In October, Gossips published a post called "Time Stands Still" which quoted DPW superintendent Rob Perry talking about the experience of climbing the steep passageway into the tower of the First Presbyterian Church to wind the city clock and proffering the invitation, "Anyone who would like to have the job of winding the clock, please see me."
As it turns out, someone took Perry up on his invitation, and there is now a volunteer who winds the clock every Friday. The new clock winder wrote a blog post about why and how he came to volunteer for the task, which can be read here. Those of us who value the clock and its long tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude. Gossips is honored to have played a small role in making this happen.
