No Sign of Improvement
Buffalo Business First has a report on school districts in the Albany area, ranking them from 1 to 84. The school district at the top of the list--No. 1--is Niskayuna; the one at the bottom of the list--No. 84--is Albany. No. 82 is the Hudson City School District.
So. What is that huge school tax bill, I just paid and have been paying for years now, doing?I didn't raise kids here,so what are they doing with money , to end up being bottom 82nd of 84 schools?
This blog takes its name from the 1850 novel by Hudson author Alice B. Neal. The original Gossips of Rivertown cast a gimlet eye on Hudson society in the mid-19th century. More than a century and a half later, the new Gossips carries on the spirit of the original, but in a different genre and with a different focus.
Terrible schools are the single biggest obstacle to Hudson's long-term improvement, socially and economically.
