When Gossips published this image of the building that is now City Hall, which presumably shows the building soon after it was completed in 1907, a reader commented that the women's attire seemed more appropriate to the 1880s than to the first decade of the 20th century. This comment inspired Gossips to wonder what women's fashions were like in the year we've been focused on for the past several weeks: 1905. A little research discovered this page from a 1905 issue of McCall's magazine.
You decide if the ladies crossing the street in front of the new National Hudson River Bank are appropriately dressed for 1907.
