C. V. S. Harder's is not one of the businesses included in Illustrated Hudson, N.Y., but it did exist in 1905. The Hudson directory for 1905 lists "Chas. V. S. Harder (successors to Bachman & Lasher) hats, caps, gents' furnishing" at 531 Warren Street. Checking back through earlier directories discovered that Charles Harder became the proprietor of the business in 1900.

Hudson in 1905: Bonus
Gossips' "Hudson in 1905" series inspired Rudy Huston at White Rice to send this photograph of an item he found at a garage sale in the Berkshires.
The image is printed on card stock and may be a store placard or possibly part of a hatbox. It bears the business name C. V. S. Harder's and the address 531 Warren Street in Hudson, New York--now the location of White Rice.
