Author Revealed
The Galvan Initiatives' response to Alderman David Marston, which first appeared on the foundation's blog, now appears in the Register-Star as a letter to the editor: "Marston's Words." When the statement appeared on the blog, the authorship was unclear; the letter to the editor, however, is signed "Tom Swope, Executive Director, Galvan Initiatives Foundation."
The intemperate and misleading letter to the editor by Tom Swope mires GalVan in a public relations swamp of their own making. I cannot think of any foundation allowing a staff member to write that kind of letter to the editor. If Van Amerigen and Galloway support and encourage Swope's continual public statements that certain public officials who ask pointed questions or make statements of fact are prejudiced against poor people then there is little room for building confidence in GalVan's endeavors in Hudson.
ReplyDeleteThe Register Star usually delays a few days before printing letters. One wonders if GalVan is regretting just such a delay today.
ReplyDeleteAs I mentioned elsewhere, it was a poor choice for the newspaper to title the letter the way they did, thereby contributing to the evident and totally gratuitous personalizing of the debate.
