Well, Isn't That Good News?
Salon reports today that law enforcement agencies in many parts of the country are running out of bullets because gun owners, fearful that their right to bear arms might in some way be circumscribed, are buying up all the ammunition: "With gun nuts hoarding bullets, will cops be disarmed?"
To be accurate, it appears that Gossips is stating "thank the NRA," whereas the Salon piece only implies it throughout.
ReplyDeleteTo be even more accurate, unheimlich, the title that originally appeared on Gossips--
Delete"Cops are running out of bullets. Thank the NRA."--was the title that appeared on the Salon piece when I posted this. It has since been changed on Salon, and I have changed it, too.
My apologies to 'Gossips' whose word I do not doubt, and my increased scorn for the unprofessionalism and tendentiousness many have come to expect from Salon.com.
DeleteDid the Salon piece mention the billions of bullets being purchased by the Department of Homeland Security?
ReplyDeleteI've read that these mammoth purchases are crowding both police departments and law-abiding gun owners out of the market.

i got my sling-shot
ReplyDeleteThis line says a lot about our national phyche: "Indeed, business is booming for the firearms industry in the wake of Sandy Hook..." In other words, the more gun related crime, murder and mayhem we have, the more guns we get. I don't know how to wrap my head around that. Please help me understand.
