The Transformation Continues
In August, Gossips did a post about 886 Columbia Street and Delbert Dinehart, the man for whom the lavish house was built: "The Transformation of a Mansion."
Today, a reader reported that workers were on the roof, replacing the original clay tiles with black asphalt shingles.

It's a damned shame and very foolish to remove clay tile from a roof. Tiled roofs can last over 200 years. Why replace luxury materials with something that will need to be redone in 20 years?
ReplyDeleteBecause the contractors know how to squeeze more money out of the client. More time on the job equals more pay.
ReplyDeleteThey convince the client that the tiles are about to decay soon and it's not worth trying to save them.
