The Galvan Foundation and Mayor Kamal Johnson have announced the award of grants totaling $100,000 to thirteen minority-owned small businesses in Hudson and Columbia County. The press release states: "The initiative aims to support the long-term growth of minority-owned businesses. The businesses selected to receive grants each show great potential to expand over the coming years."
The grant recipients are:
- 3J Customs, custom printed apparel and promotional products
- Chimba Art, high quality artwork prints on canvas
- Collins Kitchen, family owned catering and delivery business specializing in Caribbean cuisine
- Grandma's Kitchen, soul food catering company planning to expand to a storefront location after more than fifty years in operation
- Hazel's Essentials, all natural hair and skincare products, along with wellness workshops
- I'm Beauty Store, cosmetics, hair care and beauty products
- Janet Oar, sustainably manufactured furniture and other products
- LYF Fitness, fitness classes and customized personal training
- M&J's Unisex Hair Salon, barbershop and training site, with a focus on community
- Martin Audio Video Services, creative video services, specializing in online marketing for small businesses
- Shakespeare's, custom cakes, baked goods, and signature infused berries
- The Eagle, fresh food and groceries, specializing in Hispanic products
- What's Really Good, serving barbecue for ten years with plans to upgrade to a food truck
