Regarding 65-75 N 7th St : Can somebody(perhaps an atty?) please explain the basis of Galvan's atty's claims of "R 3" status and what the heck "R 3"substantively and actually means. I cannot understand the atty's letter which I read 2xs . I get they object and I get that they say their objection has precedent but why does R 3 make the project OK and something else (what?) make it not ok? In simple language, PLEASE. No quoting the tect, that doesn't help us simpletons.
ReplyDeleteR-3 is a zoning district. Perhaps looking at the code could help: https://ecode360.com/5082474. Frankly, I've made no attempt to understand precisely what it is they're objecting to.
Deletereally ? So this objection is not based on anything obvious or clear? In that case I can understand why you haven't bothered. Seems crazy to me.
DeleteSo Monday's meeting: the only thing that should be discussed is making drastic cuts to the City budget, including furloughs and layoffs. Tuesday's meeting: Open Studios? No, an online "event" should not be funded and does not meet the requirements for using the tax. Wednesday's meeting: Watch out! BEA meeting to discuss how to make up for the shortfall (read as depletion) of the general fun can only mean one thing - taxes. Finally, Thursday's meeting: the EDC should be discussing ways to help Hudson businesses stay afloat through the dead season. Otherwise Warren Street will look very different when the daffodils are in bloom. It's gonna be a rough week.
ReplyDeleteWith all of your opinions, I really hope you also participate in some way! And no, commenting here is not participating.
DeleteI moved up here a few years ago and almost immediately got involved in several local organizations. Everyone seemed so enthusiastic about what we were hoping to accomplish but with each group it became apparent that nobody was willing to do the work or to think outside of "the way we've always done it". It became really frustrating for not only me but other members of the groups. I stuck with them for a while and eventually stopped participating in all but one group (which really hasn't been active in almost a year). There is a lot that needs to be done in town and can be done, but there has to be the willingness to actually DO the work not just give it lip service.
DeleteGlad to hear it and well said. The good ole' boy network has been in place my entire life and well before that! I applaud anyone who tries to navigate through them. Thanks
