A Magical Consequence of Climate Change

Yesterday, a wood stork, a bird rarely seen north of South Carolina, made an appearance in Ghent. The bird sighting brought out the local avian paparazzi, including Sarah Sterling, who provided Gossips with these pictures. (The second bird in the first picture is an egret.)

  1. An extraordinary record. They soar aloft at great heights and sometimes end up in unlikely places. This bird is way off course.

  2. Not quite as spectacular, but an eyrie of 3 peregrine falcons are now making their home on top of the cement silo at Hudson ‘s waterfront. It’s the first time I have seen them in the Hudson area.
