A reader alerted me to an article that appeared in the Financial Times yesterday: "Why is everyone decamping to Hudson?" The subheading reads in part: "The rural refuge in New York state is in the midst a major revival." In my opinion, Hudson has been constantly in the midst of a major revival since I moved here in 1993. That thought notwithstanding, the article is an interesting read.
Oh wow! This is quite an article of global significance. Let's be prepared for an influx of visitors from across the pond (and Europe) as they say!
ReplyDeleteI feel like a tribesman in Borneo or someplace. Oh no, the anthropologists are coming again....
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I was a pioneer crossing the mountains to get here and against all advice open a shop on Warren in 1985. The first influx was in 1987 when New York Magazine wrote an article about Columbia County, thank you Sam Pratt. After that I noticed strangers in town and an uptick in business.
ReplyDeleteTo think it all began from a handful of Antiques Dealers ... which isn’t even mentioned .
