COVID-19 Update

The Columbia County Department of Health has released its numbers for today. Since Friday, there have been 21 new cases of COVID-19. The number of active cases being reported today is six more than Friday, from which it can be inferred that, since Friday, fifteen county residents have recovered from the virus. There are eleven more county residents in mandatory quarantine today than on Friday, but one fewer county resident is hospitalized. The number in the ICU remains the same. There has not been a death from COVID-19 in Columbia County since June 24.

The New York Forward dashboard is reporting a positivity rate for Columbia County yesterday of 4.8 percent and a seven-day average of 3.0 percent. By comparison, the daily positivity rate for the Capital Region is 5.5 percent and the seven-day average is 4.6 percent.

A year ago today, the CCDOH reported 1 new case of COVID-19. The total number of cases was 524, and the number of active cases was 10. There were 33 county residents in mandatory quarantine, 3 were hospitalized, and none was in the ICU. The total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 at this time last year was 37.

  1. Covid is rising so much and worse than this time last year and yet Hudson is packed, half the people aren't wearing masks, one doesn't know how is vaccinated and who isn't. It doesn't bode well, especially for people working in stores and restaurants.

  2. I agree, it makes no sense, the levels are higher than they were last summer when everything was shut down and everyone is walking around maskless like the pandemic is over.
