Meetings and Events in the Week Ahead

There is rain is the forecast this week and very few meetings.
  • On Tuesday, August 17, the Hudson Industrial Development Agency (IDA) holds a special meeting at 1:00 p.m. The meeting takes place at One City Centre, Suite 301. The stated purpose of the meeting is "to discuss the Galvan's Foundation's 75 North 7th Street and 708 State Street projects." Written comments on the projects are being accepted until noon on Tuesday and can be submitted to mtucker@columbiaedc.com.
  • Also on Tuesday, August 17, the Common Council ad hoc committee working on sidewalk legislation meets at 5:30 p.m. The meeting takes place at City Hall. 
Update: This ad hoc committee meeting has been canceled.
  • At 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, the Council holds its regular monthly meeting. The meeting takes place at City Hall. Among the items on the agenda is a proposed local law to amend the zoning law to allow eating and drinking establishments in R4 districts
  • On Wednesday, August 18, the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) holds its regular monthly meeting at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. The agenda for the meeting includes two public hearings: one for area variances required to build a two-family residential structure at 437-439 State Street; the other to move a rear accessory structure and create a guest room above at 226 Union Street.
  • Also on Wednesday, August 18, Waterfront Wednesdays takes place from 5:00 p.m. until dark at Henry Hudson Riverfront Park. This week's event features a visit from Solaris, the Hudson River Maritime Museum's 100 percent solar-powered tour boat and floating classroom.

  1. The sidewalk committee and situation: Zero steps forward, 5 steps backwards. And stumbling.

  2. I strongly encourage everyone to write to the IDA through Mike Tucker at the email address listed above to voice their opposition to the proposed PILOT for the Galvan project.

    Housing is a real and ongoing issue, and handouts to shady developers only exacerbate Hudson's issues in the long-term.
