What a Difference a Day Makes

Yesterday, Gossips published this map from the CDC, showing that the level of transmission in Columbia County was "Moderate."

This is the map today.

Columbia County and most of the counties around us have gone from "Moderate" to "Substantial."

It's time to mask up again.

Thanks to Bob Tomaso for alerting Gossips to this change.

  1. Not to worry, it will probably change again tomorrow

  2. And yet Berkshire County in Massachusetts retains a "moderate" level despite its comparatively low vaccination rate.

According to Johns Hopkins, Columbia Co. is 60.1% vaccinated while Berkshire Co. is at 46.1%. The average daily reported cases for the two counties in the last seven days was 5 and 8 per 100,000 respectively.

How to explain the difference between the two states?

I'm a great defender of Federalism, but such unequal reactions smack of improvisation and differences in desired political outcomes.
