News from the HPD

Gossips just received the following press release from the Hudson Police Department, with the headline "Men Outta Business."
On August 6, 2021, the New York State Police and the Hudson Police Department, with the assistance of the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office, executed numerous search warrants relative to a long-term complex investigation related to organized criminal activity in Columbia County.
The investigation has led to the arrest of several members of the self-proclaimed “Men of Business” gang who have been involved in attempted murder, the illicit sales and possession of controlled substances, the possession of stolen property, illegal firearms possession, and other organized criminal gang activity, leading to violence in the City of Hudson.
Police arrested 11 individuals for charges including: Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree; Tampering with Physical Evidence; Obstruction of Governmental Administration; Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree; Assault in the 2nd degree; Attempted Murder in the 2nd degree and Conspiracy.
In total, five defendants were charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd degree in reference to recent gun violence in the City of Hudson, on April 29 and July 30, 2021.
“As violence in Hudson began to ramp up this year, the New York State Police responded with incredible resources and professionalism,” Hudson Police Chief L. Edward Moore said. “We at the Hudson Police Department were fortunate and privileged to join in as a trusted and integral part of this successful joint operation. I am very proud of the teamwork displayed throughout this investigation. Our members, especially the detectives, worked extra hours often foregoing vacation and family commitments. The coordination with the State Police, Columbia County District Attorney’s Office, and other law enforcement agencies was at the highest professional standard.”
“We are grateful to the men and women of the New York State Police and the Hudson Police Department for their utmost professionalism in bringing this case to justice and curbing the violence in our county,” DA Paul Czajka said.
This is an ongoing investigation and more arrests are anticipated.
This investigation was aided by the Albany Police Department, for which the Chief and DA are extremely grateful.
