At 6:15 p.m., there is another community planning workshop, this one having to do with the SEQR (State Environmental Quality Review) process. The workshop, which takes place in the Community Room of the Hudson Area Library, 51 North Fifth Street, will be facilitated by students from Albany Law School. According to the flyer for the workshop, "Attendees will learn how the state environmental review process (SEQR) regulates and affects development in Hudson, and the role citizens play in the environmental review process."
To my knowledge, no agenda and no documents have been posted for the Legal Committee meeting tonight (per the law, these should have been posted no later than 24 hours in advance of the meeting.)
ReplyDeleteWhatever topics are part of the agenda for tonight, the Legal Committee clearly doesn't want the public to be informed about them in advance, or else they are just woefully disorganized and under-prepared.
Not that it's an either/or situation.
Is it asking too much to expect the legal committee to follow the law?

The CC el presidente attempting jokes about marijuana dispensaries. One alderperson asking questions she should have been well aware of from the previous meeting, wasting time and oxygen. It's all becoming a joke, and no doubt jokier next year with all the new, fresh faces asking all the same questions to try to get up to speed. Ugh, it's like amateur clown show time. B H U S T O N

DeleteI hope the incoming Common Council members go further afield than the Common Council president as they set legislative priorities and look for guidance during their transition, or Hudson is in for two more years of the shittiest show on Earth.
How many legal committee meetings have there been this year since the committee was reformed? It is difficult, even impossible, to tell since there are no minutes listed on their web page for 2021 and I can't find any archived zoom meetings at all. There seems to be nothing available -- maybe that's what el president Tom wants. Can someone prove me wrong? B Huston
DeleteYou are correct. Legal Committee meetings for 2021 have neither published minutes nor Zoom recordings posted to the City Youtube page. In fact, the meetings posted seem slapdash and random. There is one Tourism Board meeting posted to Youtube, from June 2020.
DeleteIronic, since one of the discussions at Legal centered around continuity between iterations of the Council. This documentation presumably exists in both video and written form (the taxpayers are paying for minutes to be written), and should be shared with the community.
4 days ago I emailed all the members of the legal committee and included el presidente Tom: "Can someone tell me if there are minutes or zoom videos of the 2 most recent legal committee meetings and where they are?" No response. Words fail me. B Huston
